The Remote Audio Rainman K4 is a rain cover that fits over a zeppelin-style windshield to reduce the impact of drops on a boom microphone. The K4 size is specified for Rycote Windshield Kit 4 and configurations using the MKH 416, MKH 60, CMIT 5U, KMR 81 and CS-3e; it can also fit similarly sized windshields from other manufacturers.

Its lightweight inner batting does not absorb water or mat when wet. Raindrops slow as they pass through it, and water is channelled forward along the outside of the windshield. An outer mesh layer, reinforced stitching and a hook-and-loop closure keep the cover in place. The redesigned version adds a waterproof hood and a stronger outer weather seal.

Installation consists of sliding the Rainman over the windshield with the opening at the front of the microphone, then closing the hook-and-loop slot. In heavy rain it may need to be removed periodically so accumulated water can be shaken or wrung out. Remote Audio recommends using it without a furry cover; a stretch sock-style cover can be placed underneath when additional wind protection is needed.
