Lectrosonics DSR Series Receivers: Superior RF and Audio Performance

Lectrosonics, a leading manufacturer of wireless microphone systems, has launched its next-generation digital slot receivers: the DSR and DSR5P dual-channel receivers, and the DSR4 quad-channel receiver. These new receivers offer the highest level of RF and audio performance available, making them ideal for Electronic News Gathering (ENG), field, and location production.

Compatibility and Tuning Ranges

The DSR and DSR5P receivers provide two independent receiver channels, while the DSR4 offers four independent channels. All of these receivers are compatible with current Lectrosonics mono and stereo digital transmitters, as well as backward compatible with Digital Hybrid Wireless® transmitters made over the past 20 years. The receivers are available in several tuning ranges: A1B1 (470-614 MHz), B1C1 (537-692 MHz), 941 (941-960 MHz for use in North America), and 961 (961-1,015 MHz for use in the UK).

User-friendly Interface and SmartTune Technology

The front panels of the DSR series receivers feature high-resolution displays, making them suitable for use in portable bag systems, camera-mounted setups, and on sound carts. Built-in RF spectrum analyzers and SmartTune technology ensure quick and efficient scanning of the local RF spectrum to find clear operating frequencies, mitigating interference problems in congested RF environments. Two-way IR sync further simplifies the process of setting up matching transmitters.

Connectivity and Software Compatibility

The new receivers include a USB jack and data connection through the SuperSlot interface, ensuring compatibility with Lectrosonics Wireless Designer frequency coordination and system management software. This integration allows for seamless coordination and management of your wireless audio systems.

Advanced RF Gain Stages

The DSR series receivers utilize a newly developed design in their RF gain stages, providing low noise RF amplification, excellent sensitivity, and extremely low susceptibility to intermodulation and de-sensitization. The DSR4 boasts an impressive 3rd Order Intercept point (IP3) of +15 dBm, while the DSR and DSR5P offer an IP3 of +11 dBm.

Compatibility with Legacy Accessories

The DSR and DSR5P dual-channel receivers maintain compatibility with existing Lectrosonics SR series accessories, including the SREXT, SRSUPER, SRSNY, and SRBATTSLED units. However, the DSR4 quad-channel receiver, due to its slightly larger size, requires new accessories for mounting, powering, and audio output.

Powerful AES 256-CTR Mode Encryption

Both receivers incorporate AES 256-CTR mode encryption, offering four different encryption key policies: Universal, Shared (ideal for sports coverage), Standard, and Volatile (one-time use key). This ensures secure and reliable transmission of audio data.

With the launch of the DSR series, Lectrosonics has once again revolutionized field production by offering both two and four-channel digital slot receivers. Karl Winkler, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Lectrosonics, emphasizes that these new receivers represent the state of the art in portable RF performance and are a result of five generations of SR Series slot receivers. Since 2007, the SR Series has been one of Lectrosonics' most popular product lines, and the introduction of the DSR series is set to carry on that legacy of innovation and excellence.

In summary, the next-generation Lectrosonics DSR series receivers offer superior RF and audio performance, user-friendly interfaces, advanced RF gain stages, and powerful encryption capabilities, making them the ideal choice for ENG, field, and location production professionals. With compatibility across various tuning ranges, existing accessories, and the SuperSlot ecosystem, the DSR series receivers are a versatile and powerful addition to any wireless audio setup.
