REMOTE AUDIO SPEAKEASY V4BT BATTERY-POWERED MONITOR WITH BLUETOOTH
The Speakeasy v4BT is a self-contained battery-powered speaker with microphone-level, line-level and instrument-level inputs, and a built-in Bluetooth receiver for wireless audio playback. It is housed in a die-cast aluminium enclosure with a durable black finish and features an improved audio signal path and an upgraded power amplifier for greater clarity and faithful sound reproduction. The Speakeasy v4BT transducers are magnetically shielded, allowing it to be operated close to sensitive equipment.
Power
The Speakeasy v4BT runs on two 9 V batteries, typically for a full day of intermittent use. It will also run from an external 9 - 18VDC power supply on its coaxial power connector (2.1 x 5.5mm, centre pin positive). The internal battery is disconnected from the circuit when external power is plugged in, so there is no need to remove the battery when using external power.
Line-level input
The line-level input is for balanced +4dB signals, although unbalanced signals can be used. It has a combo XLR / 1/4" TRS connector for convenience, and is wired in the standard balanced configuration of Pin 1/Sleeve = Ground, Pin 2/Tip: Audio Hot (+), Pin 3/Ring: Audio Cold (-).
Microphone-level input
The XLR microphone-level input accepts a balanced microphone-level signal and directly supports a dynamic microphone. It does not provide power for condenser microphones. The microphone input has 40dB of gain available, adjustable at the rear panel with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
Instrument-level input
The Speakeasy v4BT supports an unbalanced instrument-level signal on a 1/4" TS connector. The impedance of this input is 1Mohm, which is suitable for use with passive electric guitar pickups or active guitar preamp systems without "loading" the pickups and causing high-frequency roll-off. Instruments with very hot outputs, such as electric guitars with wound humbucker pickups, can cause distortion. In that case, the guitar's volume control should be adjusted to minimise distortion. All audio inputs are isolated from one another and can therefore be used at the same time. For example, a line-level input can be used for music playback while the microphone input is used for the input signal.
Bluetooth operation
The Speakeasy v4BT is equipped with a built-in Bluetooth receiver module for wireless audio playback. It has a range of 30 feet, depending on environmental factors. It features a simple two-button interface with two status LEDs.
